Advantages: None.

Disadvantages: Everything about this film is dreadful.

I'm sure that technically, this should be a good film, its got all the right ingredients.
Unfortunately, its not.
In fact, its really quite dire, which is a shame, considering how good the original 'Howling' was.

This wretched sequel takes off right after the end of the original film. The brother of Dee Wallace's newscaster in the original film decides to investigate her death, which leads him to hook up with werewolf hunter Christopher Lee, who surely must regret starring in this mess. The main werewolf this time around is a sexy shewolf, played by Sybil Danning, who goes through a variety of revealling and bizarre custome changes during the film. The hunt leads them to Eastern Europe, when a 'werewolf eclipse' will reveal the lycanthropes, making them all the easier to kill. However, this proves more difficult then they had bargained for, and they soon find themselves up to their necks in lycanthrobes...

If this sounds exciting or interesting in any way, i'm sorry to disappoint you. This film boasts some of the most leaden directing I have ever seen. I have sat through some really mediocre films in my time, but 'Howling 2' honestly challenged even my powers of patience. The script is terrible, the pace is barely even a crawl, and some of the action scenes are so random or pointless that they exasperate rather than excite.

There is little for the horror fan in terms of suspense, atmosphere or gore. What effects there are are far from special, and the werewolf makeup looks lame and unconvincing,

Considering everything, this was a hard film to ruin. The cast is great, with genre favourites Christopher Lee and Sybil Danning in the kind of juicy roles they are well known for. Werewolf films, steeped in mythology have no excuse for being boring, and the scenery of this film as no right to be this dull.

The film is not even amusingly bad as many horror films can be. I honestly
cannot think of any redeeming features, and must insist that you avoid this at all costs.

AS somebody who does not like horror films, I think this one sounds worse than the norm.
