Advantages: Good tense thriller
Disadvantages: Limited acting
Well they were celebrating the M1 50th irday last weekend however I cannot imagine that this film would be the sort of thing they would be showing at the birthday party bash. This is a British made thriller and while it did not exactly set the world alight at the box office it is well worth checking out even if at times you might have the nagging feeling that you have seen this sort of plot somewhere else already.
Zake Abbot, played by William Ash, has a rather mundane job driving up the M1 changing the posters in the toilets of all the service stations and also taking pictures of the stations during his visit. Accompanied b his girlfriend Beth, played by Christine Bottomley, he gets caught up in a road rage incident with a hooded lorry driver that soon begins to spiral out of control with dire consequences for all concerned.
I'm pretty sure that this is a remake of an American film that had a driver plagued by an unseen trucker as I remember seeing it many years ago. This version is pretty entertaining even if the acting is a little lack lustre at imes as Ash seems to only be able to do extremely paniced and not a lot else.
The film certainly does a good job of building up on the tension especially as there is an apparent randomness to the attack on the couple that makes it all the more upsetting.
This is a pretty good british thriller come horror film, not the greatest film I have ever seen and there are the odd plot failings and I was not overly impressed with Ash in the lead role but the tension builds nicely and it certainly managed to hold my attention for the duration of the film.
Summary: Sense of deja vu

- 08/11/09 It does sound rather like Duel, but interesting at the same time. |
