I Spit On Your Grave is a movie which probably most of you have heard mentioned at one time or another but have actually never seen. It is a movie around which controversy has reined since its release back in the late 70s but one which most of its critics have never actually seen. Well, trust me, whether they have seen it or not, their criticisms are fully justified. It is banned in this country and has been since its release, but as with all banned movies, they are readliy available if you look in the right places - and they certainly aren't banned in many other countries. Let me tell you the story of what has been set up as a classic of feminist cinema: a young aspiring novelist by the name of Jenny travels down to somewhere in the deep south of the US (you know, Deliverance country), in order that she might might get some peace and quiet in which to write. Unfortunately for her, the local boys think it's a good idea to brutally rape and beat her, encouraging a slightly mentally retarded delivery boy to join in. Obviously not too pleased by this stereotypical, indeed completely cliched behaviour, she decides to take revenge on each of them, killing them all. I make no apologies for revealing the story of this film to you, ... Read the complete review

This is a very controversial movie from the 1970's that deals with rape and vigilante justice. It is also known by the title of Day of the Woman. This is definitely not for children including the review. Jennifer Hills is a woman who goes to the country from New York to write a book. Four local men, including one mildly retarded guy named Mathew, consider her to be a bit uppity with her city ways and for some unknown reason decide to rape her. They also apparently do this so Mathew can lose his virginity. The rape scenes in the movie are rather graphic. They also last about 20 minutes which is rather rare for any movie from my understanding. The ... Read the complete review
