Advantages: nice transfer, big dumb film, Love Hewitt

Disadvantages: dull extras

After the original film pulled in over $100 million worlwide a sequal was always on the cards and just over a year later we got one.

The film is directed by Brit Danny Cannon who made a decent british thriller called The Young Americans, then got screwed by Stallone on Judge Dredd before making a small but decent noir called Pheonix. Basically the plot revolves around Julie James (love Hewitt) who is now at university but a bit paranoid. She is drifting apart from boyfriend Ray (Prinze Jr) and is in the affections of a classmate called Will. Her roomie Karla wins a trip to the bahamas from a radio station and takes Julie, Will and her boyfriend along. Naturally the man with the hook turns up and all hell breaks loose.

It's not the best plot and has a lot of stupid moments but it's well shot and somehow manages to be entertaining thanks to some nice cleavage (yes that's right) and nice scenery.

I have the R1 version of this film purely because it was on dvd in the states before a cinema release over here ! The R2 version is the same though apart from the full screen version not being included.

The film itself is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and as with most Columbia titles the transfer is excellent with solid colours and no dirt, blemishes etc.

Sound wise it's in Dolby Digital 5.1 and it's very loud whenever a scare is happening. Apart from that it's good all round with a lot of atmosphere. There's also a 2.0 mix if you like.

Extras are a bit dull though. First up is one of those dull 'making of' featurettes that lasts 7 minutes and is really just promotional fluff with not a lot of making of footage in it. Classic qoute "that's whats scary, when you can't quite figure someone out but they just keep coming!"

Next is a music video from star Jennifer Love Hewitt for a song called 'How Do I Deal'. Love has a nice voice and it's a
good video.

Lastly there is a trailers section with trailers for the film, the original and another Love film called 'Can't Hardly Wait' which I reccomend.

You'll either hate or like the film. Personally I think it's big dumb fun that doesn't require a brain but doesn't really get on your nerves like some other teen horror flicks.
