However, when the group come across an icy underground cavern they realise bigger problems lie ahead when they see dinosaurs still roaming about. From here the film centres on whether the gang can escape the predators and deal with their own personal issues as well. Fans of the previous two installements will like this movie as it follows the premise of the other two. The characters are very likeable and each have a good backstory and personal issue in the movi...more

Premium Review Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (DVD): Ice Age 3 : The Dawn Of A Diluted Sequel (463 words)

Hmmmmmm well if you're here reading this wondering whether it's worth the £10 (£9.98 at Amazon at time of writing this) I must firstly advise that you go and watch the first two...ok? done? on with the review. Whilst it is possibly not 100% vital that you have seen the first Ice Age movies, they do introduce the characters and give a good backstory as to how the land they live in, came to be as it is and how the unlikely team of a tiger, sloth and mammoth came to be who were then joined by another mammoth and 2 weasels. Oh and of course not forgetting Scrat the squirrel. --- Animation --- The animation is once again outstanding, staying ...  Read the complete review

We've just had a two week holiday in South Africa. On the journey back, the first film I wanted to see was Ice Age 3, mostly because I wanted to complete the series and find out what happens, having seen the other two films on the way out. Please bear in mind that if you have not seen the first two films, I do not recommend you read this review (even if that means I miss out on your rating!) That's because if the film sounds like your thing, I will have spoilt both those first two films within this review of the third. So staying on this point, I'd say that really you should watch the first and second films before seeing this one. I'm not completely sure, but I don't ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (DVD): LOVE IT (600 words)

We took our little nephew to see Ice Age 3 aka dawn of the dinosaurs at the cinema in 3-D as we knew he would love it. After the big success of the first 2 I was thinking can they do it for a 3rd time and do you know what, they did it better. This was such a funny film and the characters were as great as usual so we all loved it. Here is why it is a great third film and definitely worth a watch. Ice Age 3 stars the same characters we know and love. Scrat is still after his beloved acorn and in this film he has a little female friend in competition. Then we have Diego who seems to be mellowing out every film is a lot nicer in this film. Manny is looking ...  Read the complete review

While Manny and Ellie prepare themselves for the arrival of a baby mammoth, the rest of the unlikely group of friends begin to feel left out. Diego goes off in search for adventure of his own while Sid dreams of having his own family. So when he stumbles upon three seemingly deserted eggs, Sid decides to take them and bring the babies up as his own. But when three baby dinosaurs hatch from the eggs and begin to cause destruction, Sid realises parenthood is a lot harder than he thought. And his problems only get worse when the huge and very angry real mother turns up looking for her babies and carts them and Sid back to their home. Manny and the rest of the team have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (DVD): Good fun! (528 words)

I saw this film last night in one of those forced film choices bound by the time constraint of 'what's on right now that we could all tolerate watching'. It turned out to be a great choice! I love animation but I am more partial to the ones that have something in them for adults as well and Ice Age 3 certainly delivered on that front. I've seen Ice Age2 on TV but not the first film and never in the cinema. On top of that this was a 3D show. The story essentially follows Manny, the mammoth, his heavily pregnant wife, Ellie and Diego, the sabre toothed tiger as they venture under the ice to a land where dinosaurs are not extinct. They do this to try and rescue ...  Read the complete review
