I saw this film as a formality but after I finished the film I was pleased I had made the effort.

First of all its as good as the first two movies, if not better. It does not repeat the plot at all and the comedy provided by Sean Pegg brings a fresh element to this franchise. Watch out for obvious references to Sean and the Dead by the animator providing that all important edge that all animated movies need now, appeal for adults as well as kids. In actual fact this is pretty much a mandatory need for such movies. Thankfully Ice age
3 does this successfully and explores some new found themes of what takes to be a parent, concepts that are softly presented for a younger age group very adeptly.

Through introducing also a new world to the time in which this unusual herd exist this adds to the excitement through the discovery of dinosaurs.

All in all the plotline is simplistic and the animation superior. Once again animation has another triumph and this wave of animation genre continues to thrive.

Ultimately the unifying message ofthis movie is the importance of family whoever you consider that to be and however unconventional they may seem and that cannot be a bad thing.
