We took our little nephew to see Ice Age 3 aka dawn of the dinosaurs at the cinema in 3-D as we knew he would love it. After the big success of the first 2 I was thinking can they do it for a 3rd time and do you know what, they did it better. This was such a funny film and the characters were as great as usual so we all loved it. Here is why it is a great third film and definitely worth a watch.

Ice Age 3 stars the same characters we know and love. Scrat is still after his beloved acorn and in this film he has a little female friend in competition. Then we have Diego who seems to be mellowing out every film is a lot nicer in this film. Manny is looking after a very pregnant Ellie and Sid is just simply causing trouble. Now this film is called Dawn of the Dinosaurs so as you can imagine the crew get themselves caught up with looking after a few dinosaurs. Cue hilarity!

The story is fabulous and keeps your attention from the hilarious scenes with Scrat at the very beginning. I think he is possibly my favourite character as he has nothing to do with the film but is the best one you want to see on screen. The inclusion of dinosaurs is great for this film as there are more effects and the film just appears that much bigger. I think it has a very satisfying feel to it and it is a nice film so it is suitable for all and the story should be understood by everybody.

Now as you have come to expect from Ice Age films, the effects are brilliant and the film is full of action and extremely colourful. There is no fault to any computer effects being used and the 3-D aspect that we saw of it was great and I am sure if you don't get to see it in 3-D you will still love every minute. I have to say that I think this film is cartoon perfection and I would watch it again and again like I do with the first 2 films.

Character wise and as with every film they are all fantastic. As I said above I love Scrat the best but Sid is a close second. To be honest though I cant fault any of them. I love the addition of Ellie as I think she is wonderful and she has brought a very sweet tone to the Ice Age films. The best thing about the characters though is that you do not focus on the voices of Queen Latifah and John Leguizamo. They totally get into their characters which is fabulous and it makes the film brilliant viewing.

This film is suitable for all ages which is great and lasts for around an hour and a half which goes by in a big flash. It is not out on DVD yet but when it is it will be a great addition to any collection.

In conclusion I think this film like all of the other Ice Age films is amazing. I love it!! 5 stars from me as it is perfection and has not lost any of the magic from the first two films. I would go and see it while you can on the big screen and then enjoy it once again on the small screen when it comes out on DVD.
