Advantages: None really
Disadvantages: Really boring and dull, poor script and bad acting, not a very believeable storyline, not funny
I went and seen this film in the cinema recently with my boyfriend. I have gone off Eddie Murphy a bit as i dont think he is as funny as he used to be so i wasnt really looking forward to it. It was my boyfriends idea to go and see it so i thought i would go for him.
If you have never seen Imagine That, it is a comedy drama film that came to our screens this year in 2009. It was directed by Karey Kirkpatrick and the total running time is 107 minutes altogether.
It has a good cast apart from Eddie Murphy including Martin Sheen, Thomas Haden Church, Yara Shahidi and Ronny Cox. I like Martin Sheen as an actor so was really glad he was in it.
The story centres around character Evan who works night and day as a financial executive and is under pressure to work harder than his competitive colleagues.
His daughter Olivia comes to stay with him and he hardly spends any time with her and is more concerned with his job. She has a magic blanket and imaginary friends that she likes to talk too.
He starts to realise that these things are capable of predicting stock investments.
Will he use Olivia to help him in his career or start paying proper attention to his daughter? I wont give away too much of the plot for you incase i ruin it.
I thought this film was very drab and boring. It is aimed mainly at children and i even noticed a few in the cinema were very restless and bored by the end of it. It was overly cheesy for me and not a very believeable story.
Eddie Murphy just seemed to irritate me and i think his acting has gone downhill in recent years. This film is a real fantasy film but i thought there was no on screen chemistry between the actors which made it very hard to watch.
I dont think the script was carried out with the conviction it deserved and if it had have had a few different actors, it might have been more entertaining.
I didnt really enjoy this film very much and was a bit disappointed with it overall. I think some kids might enjoy it but its more suited to them anyway than it is for adults. Not my cup of tea!
Summary: A young girls imaginary friends and blanket help her dads career
