Advantages: Very, very funny, brings back the art of swearing

Disadvantages: None

Having been a fan of 'In The Thick of It', I was very excited to see Armando Iannucci's new film 'In the Loop'.
The film follows a cabinet minister, Simon Foster, his aids, and his media spin doctor, Malcolm Tucker (seemingly based on Alistair Campbell). The foul- mouthed Scot provides countless one- liners which had the whole cinema laughing.
The minister is roped in by the Americans for his comments on war in the middle east being "unforeseeable"; as he flounders and goes back on his words is terrifyingly awkward press conferences, we see the descend of a political career.

Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi) is one of the greatest comedic creations in film for quite some, an endlessly angry man who basically funs half the cabinet as gives some of the best insults you are likely too see for a long time. This is an absolutely priceless performance which will not soon be forgotten.

Simon Foster (Tom Hollander) could be the world champion of hole-digging, once saying: "To walk the road of peace, sometimes we must climb the mountain of conflict", which provoked Malcolm to shout that he "sounded like a Nazi Julie Andrews!". In the film, Simon is torn between pathetically attempting to prevent war, and being bombarded by complaints by his constituents. This comically depicts the cut-throat world of international politics. Hollander gives a very funny performance in a subdued, embarrassed fashion.

Toby (Chris Addison) is the new boy in Simon's office, and is suddenly sucked into Washington, where the ante is a little higher than before. A great performance for an unsure Oxbridge-fresh student.

Also, this film brings back the art of swearing with style, in most American comedies, profanities depend on the audience's embarrassment to find the laugh; this doesn't. The way Malcolm delivers his lines is such a natural way, we finds ourselves laughing at this fast-paced, crazed Scotsman. Even those who are easily offended may find the swearing in this film funny.

Overall, this film give an hilarious insight into the corridors of power, a political satire classic.

Summary: A must-see, be prepared for a great film.
