In the Loop is an example of Armando Iannucci in his pomp, delivering a topical and highly satirical piece of film making that delves into the rather murky world of politics however given the headlines over the past few days you do sometimes wonder if the real world is actually more cynical and soulless than the political world depicted by Iannucci.

This is a film all about the influence exerted by pressure groups and the politics of spin where the politicians advisers and spin doctors are the real power behind the thrown, Simon Foster played by Tom Hollander is the luckless cabinet minister surrounded by some toady aides and his spin doctor Malcolm Tucker played by Peter Capaldi. Also worth a mention is the performance of Chris Addison who plays Toby, an innocent new addition to Fosters team.

This is one of those films that had me a permanent state of laughter, Capaldi is superb in the role as the foul mouthed spin dotor who spends as much time manipulating Foster as he does the press, his tirades are superb examples of comic timing and hilarious to boot.

With amazing foresight there are even comic moments focused on expenses as if Iannucciset up the whole recent events just to fit in with his own film script, for those who love political satire this is a must see film, it is entertaining and well delivered with some excellent performances and is great entertainment.
