I am proud to admit that this is my favourite movie of all time. I like my fair share of all that fancy nonsense that makes you ask questions when you walk out of the cinema but nothing comes close to the Indiana Jones trilogy's perfect combination of action, adventure and comedy. To my mind the Last Crusade is the best of the bunch (although I confess my opinion does fluctuate between the three - but generally I settle on this one). In this film Indy's dad makes an appearance. Henry Jones senior is played by Sean Connery, in a break from Connery's normal style of acting his character seems to have a Scottish accent. Despite such regional dialect issues Connery does a great job and combines superbly with Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), especially in the comical moments. The story centres around the diary which Jones Snr has made detailing all of the evidence he has found of the whereabouts of the Holy Grail. The Nazi's are obviously quite keen to get their hands on the Grail and with it the promise of eternal life. Indy is not going to sit back and let the Nazis get away with this and so sets off to stop them. The film has a superb supporting cast and takes place in a variety of locations across the globe from the USA to Venice and beyond. For those of you who have never seen the film I recommend watching it next Thursday (24/1/02) on BBC1. Rumours continue that there may be a 4th Indy movie in the pipeline. All I can say is that Georg Lucas should let Star Wars take a back seat for a couple of years and do the Indy film as a break before completing his final space adventure.
