Advantages: Amazing Dialogue and Acting
Disadvantages: None
Inglorious Basterds is one of those films that you can tell is going to be really good or really bad, as is the case with most Tarantino films and this one definitely comes under really good. I love the slower paced long films and that is why The Godfather is my favourite and many others favourite film of all time. Saying that, I equally love the sequel so they are my two favourite movies. Now this film I am reviewing is not quite in the same league, but it is definitely one of the best films I have seen this year, and is up there with Gran Torino. They are both awesome in their own way.

Plot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Basterds go around scalping and killing the nazis, through sheer enjoyment and duty to their country. Colonol Hans Landa is ruthless and a young girl witness the brutal killing of her family by the nazis and Landa's officers. Many years later The Basters, the girl, and Colonol Hans Landa meet again to set up a thrilling finale.
My Opinion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The movie is split into many different chapters, just like how a book sequentially moves through its chapters and tells the story. I think their is six in this case, with each one essentially just containing one fairly long scene. The first scene is my favourite, and personally I had never seen Christopher Waltz in a film before, but he deserves an oscar nomination for playing Landa. His acting was chilling, and he could add in the comic moments at the same time. Brad Pitt was similar in this sense, with a bit more of his normal styles. It is what you expect from Pitt, he is an excellent actor, but doesn't really excel here. Everyone in this film played their part.
Some of the criticism I heard, mainly from my friends, was that some of the scenes were pointless and slow, however I don't concur with this. Every scene is important builds up towards the conclusion.
Also I have to mention Tarantino. He has been panned in more recent years, but he is a very versatile director. His is know for his brutal action films, but I don't think he gets enough credit for his scripts and dialogue, lets not forget he wrote this film as well, and in fact there is barely any action here. It is all about the words, and his combination of writing, along with the excellent delivery by the actors makes this one not to miss.
This film will hopefully win a few oscars, as it definitely deserves too. It is great to get away from the normal hollywood standard films that for me are a bit boring now. I prefer to see something a little bit different that is exactly what Inglourious Basterds is. 5 stars.
Summary: Amazing Film
