Insanitarium (DVD)

This has to be one of the weirdest films that i have seen. I like psychological horrors and as this is set in an asylum, i thought it would be really good but it turned out to be a silly horror film that doesn't really make that much sense. It stars Jesse Metcalfe whose sister has been taken into a mental asylum. To get her back he fakes that he is mad so he too can be put in the same asylum. It has a promising idea and did remind me of one flew over the cookoos nest with him pretending to be mad, but once he is in the asylum it starts to get very strange and goes down hill. I watched psychological movie, lots of them taking the mad house as the setting. Some of them are good, and some of them just screwed. This is one of them. When his sister was taken to the asylum, Jack pretended to be mentally disturbed so that he would be brought to the same mad house to his sister. He wanted to take his sister back. But in the insanitarium, he found out that there is a mad scientist turning all the patient to be the lab experiment objects. I don't understand the story in the movie. When Jack's sister, Laura, is institutionalised, he is unable to make any kind of contact with her, and begins to fear for her well-being. Unable to gain access to the institute in any other way, Jack takes the drastic step of having himself committed in order that he can get close to Laura and rescue her from harm.
