the interpreter was slated by movie critics and i cant understand why! i saw it twice at the cinema and encouraged my mates to go see and they all liked it. being a languages student and taking an interest in the UN i found the setting of the movie very interesting. its a good action/thriller and doesnt require all that much concentration to follow which is great if you are after some entertainment on saturday night in front of the tv. directed by the late and amazingly talented director sydnet pollack, this film is quite a philosophical take on life and love intertwined with some explosive action sequences and tense moments. the film is quite predictable. the dvd has an ...

The story starts in South Africa, to the sounds of tribal singing, with three men in a car, driving up to an old derelict football stadium…the Black African driver and the white Afrikaans passenger get out but ask the photographer to stay in the car. The two men go into the stadium and are met by 3 young black children – one of whom take them to a dark room which is filled with the stench of the dead bodies lying there.
