Finally a Marvel movie not aimed at kids..... (Iron Man (DVD))

Advantages: Great cast, true to the comic (roughly), suitable for families

Disadvantages: No major ones

After watching the god awful X-Men movies and the cheesy spiderman films I really wasn't sure about this. Let me be clear i am a comic book nut so given almost all Marvel comics made to movies so far have been average I was praying this would break the trend.

Step up Jon Favreau and Robery Downey Jr and say Bye to Sony and their poor attempts beforehand. This is without question the best comic book to movie script made as of yet and I don't see anything coming close to it. Downey has Stark down to a tee he is every bit as cocky, arrogent, womanising, drunk and risk taking as in the comics. No more toning down for the kiddies like X-Men and Wolverine this is made as the comic is intended fantastic for adults with witty jokes and great action scenes and the kids can watch a guy in a metal raid suit blowing stuff up with a mass variety of guns and missiles.

This is perfect for a family movie, Spiderman is too childlike for many adults and Batman is too dark for many kids to understand but Ironman has hit the nail on the head. Already I can't wait for the second (and possibly third according to rumors) and how they are going to unfold more build up to Avengers movie due 2012ish.

One of the top movies of 2008 without question.
