Jackass The Movie (DVD)

Description: Genre: Comedy / Theatrical Release: 2002 / Director: Jeff Tremaine / Actors: Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O ... / DVD ... more
Jackass The Movie (DVD) ... released 11 August, 2003 at Paramount Home Entertainment / Features of the DVD: Anamorphic, PAL, Widescreen / Warning from Paramount Home Entertainment (UK): The stunts in this movie were performed by professionals, so neither you nor your dumb buddies should attempt anything from this movie. Some critics see the success of Jackass: The Movie as the last nail in the coffin of civilisation--and they're probably right. This compilation of pain-inflicting stunts and embarrassing pranks has no artistic merit whatsoever (which doesn't keep it from being freakishly entertaining). Among other things, Johnny Knoxville and his posse get beaten up by a female kick-boxing champion; shoot bottle rockets out of their rectums; run amok in Japan wearing giant panda bear costumes; swim with whale sharks while holding pounds of brine shrimp in their swimsuits; and get done up in realistic old age makeup so that they can race each other in motorized wheelchairs, among other goofs. It's a weird mixture of machismo and masochism, adolescent recklessness and frat-boy homoeroticism, and some day someone will write a doctoral thesis about how Jackass relates to our safety-obsessed society; in the meantime, just enjoy. --Bret Fetzer

Newest Review: ... there has been a follow up film which was just as popular. The film is directed (sort of) by Jeff Tremaine. There are loads ... more

... of people the film stars, some of which have gone onto bigger and better things. Some of the major players are Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve O, Ryan Dunn, Wee Man, Dave England and many many more. The film is basically just like the TV show. Its a collection of clips and sketches. The sketches involve the boys doing crazy stunts and gross things to each other. Thing like lauching themselves of ramps with jets attached to themselves, giving themselves papercuts and an entire host of other crazy thing...more

First of all can I mention this is a film only review. I have not seen the DVD so I cannot comment on it. About ten years ago a TV phenomenon hit MTV and captured the imagination of millions of young people around the world. From the sound of this you would think it would be some clever well thought out show. It was not, this was Jackass. A group of crazy men behaving like idiots. They do stupid stunts, hurt themselves and bascially push the boundries of common sense. And the world loved it. In 2002 the Jackass boys took the TV show to the big screen and Jackass the Movie came out. The film was a massive hit as it programme already had a huge ...  Read the complete review

Being a huge fan of the MTV series I was waiting with nervous anticipation for this one. But then what happens? My mate drops out and can't come and see it at the cinema with me! No matter, I've recently acquired broadband internet access so I found a site and downloaded the entire movie from there. After watching the movie for free I still felt the need to buy the DVD as soon as it was available and I received it last saturday (an american region 1 disc). The reason for this is simple, the movie is FANTASTIC and I wanted to see all the extra deleted scenes on the disc. If you're any sort of jackass fan then you are going to love this movie. If ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jackass The Movie (DVD): "wee man kick yourself in the head" (1041 words)

The title was a hard one but i took it from the part in the film where they tell the midget "wee man" to kick himself and he did, this was a funny sketch. If practical jokes don't make you laugh, then stay away from "Jackass: The Movie." But, if you were a mischievous boy once, then it's tough to keep from chuckling at this movie at least once. The title was a hard one but i took it from the part in the film where they tell the midget "wee man" to kick himself and he did, this was a funny sketch. Embarrassed myself about laughing out loud multiple times, I found myself enjoying the movie much more than I ever enjoyed the ...  Read the complete review
