Advantages: Great Cast, Good Documentaries, Great Story
Disadvantages: None
The Man with the Golden Gun was the second outing for Roger Moore as James Bond 007. Following on from the success of Live and Let Die, the producers allowed Bond to change to suit Moore's strength's rather than trying to make him be like Sean Connery. Everything about this film is in true Bond style with the tongue-in-cheek humour, great stunts, very beautiful women and great action. The main attraction for me about the film is the not Bond but his nemesis character Scaramanga (played by Christopher Lee). Not only due to the fact that I couldn't remember every seeing Christopher Lee in any other character than Dracula but also the fact that you almost like the baddy as much as Bond. He is basically the dark side of Bond - with similar levels of humour, style, sophistication and taste in women (his mistress played by Maud Adams who also appeared as the leading lady in Octopussy). You of course know that bond will survive, get the girl and sail into the sunset but you know this time its going to be more difficult. Moving onto what the DVD brings you that the VHS or television does not is firstly crystal clear vision and sound as with most DVD's. The special features on this and most of the Bond DVD's are excellent. The main feature is the making of the film documentary (narrated by Patrick Mcnee - Steed in The Avengers) and this gives great insight into how the film was made and featured interviews with all of the leading characters except for Nic Nak. Included in this DVD is also a documentary on Ian Fleming himself (the author of the James Bond novels). Of all the Bonds I believe this is probably the most memorable even compared to Goldfinger which comes an exceptionally close second place. Even though you've seen it many times before buying on DVD is well worth the cash!

- 16/03/02 I would have preferred more info on the DVD rather than the film. And if anyone has to ask which my favourite Bond was, you really aren't trying very hard. |

- 15/03/02 I think Nik Nak's dead, which is a shame. |

- 15/03/02 I like this film too. |
