I must say that I'm a true James Bond fan. I seen every film about him, most of them even several time. And for a true Bond fan is nothing more disturbing than seeing how brainless and amateur screenwriters are destroying the Bond franchise, characters, story line and legacy. And directors that support this. And it's all started with this one - The world is not enough (I forgive them for Tomorrow never dies - that one wasn't so bad). So why don't I like this movie as much as previous ones.

The story - every Bond had an interesting story. There ware unique and something new. But this one is as it would be put together from all of the previous Bonds. Bond makes a mistake of bringing the suitcase that causes the death of a man. He then goes revenging that. So we have a revenge story that was used in to much Bonds and that Bond makes a mistake - Bond doesn't make mistakes. I could go on and on but then I would spoiled too much of the movie.

Characters - Character of Christmas Jones (Denise Richards) is strange and undeveloped. She is sexy and cute as a bond girl should be, but nothing more. She somehow doesn't fit in.

Valentin Zukovsky, character introduced in Goldeneye. There he was a man, who you hated, but somehow also rooted for him. But in this film it was some how in forced, somehow he just doesn't fit in, someone who was just taken out of forgotten drawer and use it to fill some plot holes. And in the end screenwriters kill him on a very poor and amateur manner.

Pierce Brosnan as Bond is superb, he somehow does saves some of the film, who was s****d by the director and screenwriters. Fleming must be turning in the grave.

M and R ("new" Q) are great. Desmond Llewelyn we will miss you.

But I must say Sophie Marceau as Elektra King, superb bad guy /girl. One of the most complex villain in Bond history. This somehow saves a little (an inch of) the films catastrophic story.

Action is of curse Bond worthy, theme song could be better. It's a Bond with unused potential.

Summary: Great Bond bad story.
