~ ~ Thunderball is the fourth of the James Bond movies starring once again the one and only Sean Connery, who every member of the fairer sex seems to think is the sexiest Scotsman on the planet. (Who am I to argue, even though I don’t fancy him myself!!) ~ ~ Made in 1965, this Bond film will always be remembered as the “underwater” one, as a lot of the action takes place under the H2O, with the main protagonists dressed in sub aqua suits. Thunderball is the fourth James Bond film, and features probably the best James Bond of all time, Sean Connery. The plot is classic Bond. Well, lets face it, all 20-odd of the films have been pretty similar. The style is generic - bad guys sets out on some evil plan, with a stunning opening scene. Cue Bond, usually with a girl. Bond travels around the world to exotic locations, chasing bad guy. Add more girls. Have big fight at end, Bond wins. Bond ends film with girl. But then, that would be a very sceptical view to take of all Bond films, and I'm actually a big Bond fan. So how does this film fit in with that standard Bond plot? ...

Another few years pass and another Jame Bond film is realeased. The fourth in the epic series is Thunderball. Thunderball is the operation name for an attack, lead by SPECTRE, to destroy a British city, with two Nato atomic bombs. Only James Bond, 007 could stop this attack. SPECTRE's number two cheif- Largo has hijacked two atomic bombs from a British ship during a NATO training excerise. SPECTRE will fire these weapons at a large British or American city unless a huge ransom is paid by the government.
