Advantages: Very Funny, Very Stupid, Great Cameos

Disadvantages: Some moments will be lost on Kevin Smith virgins

If you're a mile mannered movie watcher then you'll probably have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention the phrases "Snootchie Bootchies" and "Snoogans". However for the past few years no one has done more for the pot smoking community than Kevin Smith, purely because he has given them a pair of role models who champion the cause on the cinematic screen.

Jay and Silent Bob are two weed peddlars who were first seen spending their days outside the New Jersey quickstop store in a film called Clerks. The film was a low budget affair that went on to some cult status and success. Since then they have appeared in every one of Smith's films including Dogma and Mallrats. A Smith fan always looks forward to the moment they appear on screen but it couldn't go forever, these two guys needed a send off before Smith moved on so now we have Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back!

The dynamic duo are the basis for a comic book entitled 'Bluntman and Chronic', one day they find out that the comic is being made into a movie and their good names are being slurred on the Internet by geeks. Rather than ride out and pick up a big fat paycheque they instead hitchike to Hollywood so they can stop the movie. But along the way they pick up an orangutan, get involved with a quartet of foxy international jewel thieves and become wanted men.

Yes this movie is incredibly stupid but that's all whay Jay and Silent Bob are about and if you've seen them in any of Smith's previous movies then you have to see this.

Above all else it's incredibly funny throughout as it pokes fun at everything under the sun. Hollywood is mocked, the movie gossip websites get targeted and a lot of people in it make fun of themselves. The film is full of cameo roles. Smith's film's over the years have given the likes of Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Jason Lee major career stepping stones so as a result they are alway
s keen to return the favour. Watching Smith's previous films helps a lot owith this one as you'll see Affleck and Lee reprising their roles from Chasing Amy and Mallrats as well as Affleck mocking himself by starring with Damon in Good Will Hunting 2 within the movie. You can also expect the likes of Wes Craven, Seann William Scott, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill to make an appearance.

Smith himself has on countless occasions made no bones about his directing and there are moments in this film that fall pretty flat but thankfully Smith really knows how to write comedy and very funny dialogue so you instantly forgive the shortcomings. Frequently the stuff that comes out of Jay's mouth is pure gold and there are no end of visual gags to kep you interested. I really am tempted to write about what you see in the film but I dno't want to spoil ot for anyone reading this.

On the acting front Jason Mewes dominates the film as Jay, it's no secret that the character is his real life persona but here he is larger than life in his delivery. Smith himself plays Silent Bob and his name suggest he is silent for the majority of the film but there's something about Bob that everyone likes and finds endearing. The cameo appearances are all excellent with Mark Hamill appearing as the evil villain of the Bluntman and Chronic movie, his name is Cock-knocker and you'll see why when you watch the movie.

Like I've already mentioned the film's problems do lie in the fact that your enjoyment all hinges on whether or not you've seen Smith's previous films' If you haven't then some of the jokes and characters will mean nothing to you. I'd also say that if you were offended by the swearing in the South park movie then chances are you'll not like this as I'm sure this breaks the record for the number of swear words in a film. Right from the outset you'll find that Jay has a mouth he wouldn't kiss h
is mother with. But that's what his character is all about and Smith even shows you the reason why.

Overall I laughed a lot because this film knows that it is completely stupid and just goes out of it's way to be crude, rude and downright mindless. It also helps that I love the characters but If you're still not convinced then let me finish by telling what this film also offers.

SHANNON ELIZABETH, ELIZA DUSHKU, ALI LARTER AND KEVIN SMITH'S WIFE IN SKINTIGHT BLACK PVC CATSUITS !!!!!

Still not sold?

THERE'S AN ORANGUTAN !!!!!!

C'mon we all know that any comedy with an orangutan is pure comedy gold.
