'Mansion of the Living Dead' is apparently an ode to the Blind Dead film series, something of a Spanish horror institution involving zombie knights templars. Following up Anchor Bay's 8 disc Franco box set is this 6 disc one. The 'newly remastered' films are from 1981-82, with the exception of Down Town (75) and Downtown Heat (90). These dates alone were enough to suggest that the contents of this very neat and unusually durable (but rather tightly packed) slipcase with slimline plastic cases were perhaps NOT 'a further selection of [Franco's] best works'. But it was inevitable that I'd buy it at some point, working out as it did at £2 per film, and with no interesting films in Poundland of late.... 'Down Town' is probably my favourite film presented here, at least as good as anything from the prior (70s) box. ...  Read the complete review
