My sister got this DVD for christmas, and it was nice to revisit it after seeing it in the cinema when it first came out. Its very funny typical british comedy, and Rowan Atkinson really makes the film. The plot: When the top secret agent is killed in action (which is not at all the fault of jonny English...) and every other agent is blown up, morning at his tombstone (again not jonnys fault...) Jonny english, played brilliantly by Atkinson, finds himself as the goverments only agent, who is as you can imagine, compleatly useless. He then has to save the country from a plot by an evil french guy to take over britain to use it as a giant prison, with the help of is ... Read the complete review

INTRODUCTION Johnny English is a film I wanted to see from the first time I heard it had been made. I love Rowan Atkinson and think he is brilliant. I loved him in Blackadder, Bean and The Thin Blue Line. I even enjoyed the Bean movie! But having missed it in the cinema, I was more resolved to hire it on DVD when it came out – which it did last Monday. Encouraged by hubby and the kids, who also wanted to watch it, I finally got the DVD out of Blockbusters on Thursday. THE PLOT For those that have missed all the publicity, the film is about a secret agent called Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson). The character is based on ... Read the complete review

~ ~ Movies have often been known to inspire commercials based on them, but it's not too often that the opposite is the case. "Johnny English" (2003), the latest James Bond spy spoof currently doing the rounds of the cinemas, is the exception. From 1992 to 1997 Barclay's Bank ran a series of humorous commercials starring Rowan Atkinson as an accident-prone spy, and it was the success of these commercials that ultimately led to Atkinson being offered the starring role in this new movie. ~ ~ Make no mistake, it's Atkinson that you'll see the most of in "Johnny English". Not only does he take the lead role, but he appears on ... Read the complete review

Johnny English is a fantatsic comedy film that is just so entertaining and I would really recommend it. The film was released in 2003 and has been nominated 4 times for Best comedy film and Best British film which just shows how good this film really is! I would really recommend this film for a family because the entertainment film is excellent. The film star Rowan Atkinson and also Natalie Imbruglia who really do play their parts very well and add to the quality of the film. The film is about Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) who is a British spy and he is effectivly Britains last hope for this mission! He has a sidekick called Bough who will help him through ... Considering that the premise for this film is based on a series of Barclaycard commercials, combined with the fact that I felt that these James Bond spy-like spoofs had been done to death (in the form of Austin Powers), and also the fact that everyone kept telling me that I wasn't missing anything from Johnny English, meant that when I finally got around to watching the film, I didn't hold out much hope. However all things considered, I was pretty impressed with what I got. Rowan Atkinson plays the main character of Johnny English, a somewhat incompetent and half-witted clerk and secret agent for MI7. When an event causes the death of every single secret agent ...
