Advantages: Funny, Laughable in an entertaining type of way

Disadvantages: Unrealistic, stupid , boring

O.k. I have just got home from watching the most terrible, hyped up movie that I have seen for a long time.

I want to write this unbiased, but I just cannot. The truth is Ciaoer's you need to know what you are letting yourself in for if you go and watch this movie.

The setting was strange kind of Hitchcock like, but no way am I comparing this to Hitchcock because Hitchcock is of a different class. The idea is good, the story is trashy and felt to me very low budget.

There were times when the atmosphere got to you in amongst the up roar of hysterics from the audience, myself and husband. At first I felt frightened, jumped a few times then lost interest airing on the side of finding amusement in this film or otherwise wasting my money when I could have gone to see The Incredibles instead.

The story went too far became predictable as well as boring and laughable. It was just unbelievable. There were times when I thought is this it? Is it going to get going? But, the snail like pace it started it also finished. This was senseless dribble.

My husband thought this story line could have been written by a 2 year old. Bitty and unclear. The audience were left confused many times over.

Munching my popcorn gave me comfort and more entertainment value than this film. I would only recommend it to you if you want a good laugh, but frightened? No I don't see many people being frightened by this. There are far too many better horrors about. Even the ending where I thought it got a little better was time wasting and the majority of the audience seemed to go home disappointed.

Now I have heard that this film has been hyped up and I don't know what the critics are saying about this film, but personally I wish I had gone to see The Incredibles. The only reason why we didn't was because this film was rated number 2 in the cinema ratings this week so I had to go and see what it was all about. Was it worth my £5.40? Was it heck!

This film is unmemorable apart from the woman’s face, which was quite haunting. I tried to take this film seriously, but like I say it lost me and turned into a comedy. There were just too many stupid and unrealistic parts to this.

Takashi Shimizu directs this film who I have never heard of before, but she does seem to have a passion for writing about Japanese culture, legends and myths.

Tagline: "It never forgives. It never forgets". Is good for this film and sums up the general story line which is about a Japanese legend where those who have died in a traumatic way come back to haunt you and place a curse on you. When I learned about what the film was actually about it made more sense though I wish I had known before.

The story is about a haunted house where the people were killed and come back to seek their vengeance. The story is good, but there are many parts in the film when I am left thinking this has been done before. In fact, it has been done so many times before that I am bored with it. Can't you try something new?

I feel disappointed in this film and the fact, that is hardly original or bringing anything new to our screens.

I mean faced with these circumstances in real life then the person who is sensible would run away never to come back, but the stupid people in the film decide to go back to the house as if they are glutton for punishment. If this is what they want they definitely get it. Even though the jumps may startle you a little if you think of this film in realistic terms it just does not work.

I have heard of people who actually enjoyed this movie, took it seriously and it scared them thoroughly. Well if your one of those people I give you an applause and hold up my hands to you. For me this movie was an utter flop. I will not be wanting to see this movie again and if there is a second which I suspect there may be you will not be finding me sitting there with my popcorn I'd rather go and see something less boring instead.

So whilst The Grudge has hit cinema's nationwide I have a grudge against it, it's trashy and didn't live up to my expectations. When I see a horror I expect it to be realistic at least. My husband compared this to The Blair Witch Project, which I really enjoyed so I suppose at the end of the day everyone has different tastes.

Oh in case anyone saw the original Ju On it’s actually a remake of that.

So it's up to you at the end of the day. Love it or leave it?
