This is an interesting blockbuster movie I saw recently, about someone who discovers he has the power to teleport instantly anywhere in the world but also discovers that there are other people who have been doing this for thousands of years and there are also people who are sworn to kill them, believing that only God should have this power. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson giving his usual best performance as a man called Roland; someone claiming to be from the NSA (National Security) but is in fact one of those people sworn to kill jumpers and who'll stop at nothing while trying to eliminate as many of them as he can. Along with Samuel L Jackson ... Read the complete review

Anywhere is possible... at least, if you're a Jumper - an individual born with the super-power-esque ability to teleport yourself to just about anywhere. Meet David Rice (Hayden Christensen): one of the lucky individuals able to do just that. Cue almost a decade of the ultimate playboy lifestyle: the intro quickly introduces us to a typical day for David, jumping between breakfast in Paris, surfing in Hawaii, before a spot of sunbathing on top of Egypt's Sphinx. Oh yes, life is good. I admit, the biggest appeal to me with this movie was the imagination of the jumping ability: this has become my new favourite superpower would-like-to-have! :) Although, another ... I haven't watched a film for a while, so when I was in the library this morning with Harry, I decided I would get a film for me and daddy2harry to watch over the boring weekend, especially because the television at the moment is so rubbish at night. I had a good browse at the selection and in the end selected Jumper, which the librarian confirmed to me was a good watch. So I was disappointed to hear daddy2harry say he had no interest in watching it at all, so I watched it this arvo when Harry was having a nap. Jumper is about a young man named David Rice who in his teenage years discovers that he seems to have some sort of ability which allows him to teleport ... Read the complete review

A couple of nights ago I could just not get to sleep, so at around 3am I decided to have a look through the pile of DVDs my granddaughter had left on my bedside cabinet to find something to watch. Jumper was the only one I'd heard of so this was the one I ended up watching, although a third of the way through I wished I hadn't bothered as it's such a silly film that it was hardly worth viewing - let alone the hype about it when it was first released! The film is basically about a young boy called David Rice who after almost drowning in a frozen lake realises he can teleport himself wherever and whenever he feels like it. He has a miserable life with a ... Read the complete review

Let me tell you one thing right from the off: Jumper is a popcorn movie. It's pure, unapologetic, escapist entertainment. That's not saying it's a bad film - just that it's not out to educate, raise issues or increase awareness. It's just there to entertain. Which makes it all the more disappointing that it only partially succeeds. Jumper has an interesting central idea - it features characters who can teleport from one location to another in the blink of an eye. The film concentrates on two such "jumpers" - David (Hayden Christensen) and Griffin (Jamie Bell) - and the efforts of their enemies the Paladin (led by Samuel L Jackson) to destroy ...
