Never Say GoodBye is the english translation of the title Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Released in 2006, was the much awaited movie of the year, all becuase it was directed by Karan Johar, and before this his 2 releases were blockbusters. Plus Sharukh & Amitabh in one movie, which is another USP. also other stars including Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta. makes it a huge bollywood movie. Already the music of this movie was a big hit before its release.

Plot :

The movie is about two couples, shows their unsuccessfull marriage life and are based in New York.

Dev is married to Rhea, and is a football player by profession. His mother porfession is to manage Marriages. On the other hand there is maya whose parents died when she was young and was look after by Sam (Amitabh), Sam's son Rishi since childhood is in love with Maya. He proposes her many time, but she never agrees, coz she is fond of Rishi but dont love him. But she agrees to marry him.

Rishi's & Maya's marriage is managed by Dev's mother, so dev come to help her out and see's the bride Maya sitting in garden before marriage, as she is confused whether to get marry to Rishi or not?. Dev as a stranger comes to her and ask her the problem, but she refuses saying why should i tell you, but later she does tell him about her Dilemma. Dev help her out and she gets mentally prepared to get married.

At the time when maya is getting married Dev's meet with a tragedy and that changes his life forever.

Now the movie moves forward a few years, Dev is limping and does not play football, but is coaching Kids. But being Handicapp and not being the main earner of the house, as Rhea is working and making good Money and name. he starts feeling Insecure, jealous, losses temparment quickly. Gets angry on small thing. Dev & Rhea have a son, and his son also plays in the team which Dev coaches. But his son does not have any intrest in football he just do it for his father, or else he will get angry on him. As Rhea is busy working she does not have much time, so Dev takes care of their Son. So all these problem's create's problem in Rhea's and Dev's married life.

While the other Couple of Maya and Rishi have their on problem. As maya can't bear a child, this thing affects her mind. Also on the other hand Rishi who loves her so much she does not have much passion for her. She thinks he is not matured and also he has sympathy towerds her.

Well both marriages are having their problems and their life is goin on. Now Dev and Maya re-meet in an Unusual way at a train station. They fight with each other in thier first meet, but after meeting few times they become friends and come to realize the similarities of problem in their Marriage life.

On the other hand Sam life is going and enjoying his life to the fullest, his life is the best and know as Sexy Sam, he flirts & sleeps with Blonde and most of young American girls. But at the same time he is a different side who is sensible, mature & wise. He also becomes friend with Dev's mother and call her Chandigarh due to her lower back body.

Well Maya & Dev do meet regularly and their friendship is going ahead, Dev thinks maya understand him properly & maya also thinks the same. And they both get attracted to each other, in having an extra marital affair.

But all this leads to diiferent way, and affecting everyone who is involved, What happens next can be find out by having a look at it.

Music :

Music of this movie is given by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy & lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The music was already a big hit before the movie's release. It had all the best songs, my personal fav are Mitwa & Slow title track. But all the other song are worth listenimg and also i can assure this movies soundtrack is worth having in your collection.

My Analysis:

For me personally i liked this movie, all though it had some flaws. Althouh it was a hit mainly in Overseas market, it was not well accepted in India, the reason being the concept was not acceptable according to Indian Culture. this movies gives out the message about if you not happy with your marriage life and not happy with your partner you can move ahead. Which is right. But Extra Marital affair not accepted, although i know it is quite common but no one wants to take or accept it.

Karan was criticised for making such a film, but he stood saying that he does not feel that he has done anything wrong. I too feel the same, he has done a good job. Only one thing he could have made the movie a little shorter. and the execution of second half could have been much better.
the first half of the Movie is very good, there is humour in it and mainly because of Amitabh. and second half is a romantic & emotional.

Amitabh bachchan has done a superb role of playing an old man who flirts around with young girls. He was simply outstanding. you will love his part in the movie.

Sharukh performance was good not that great, you have seen him acting like this Darr, Anjaam, yep but no one else could have done this role as well. He played the character of an egostic person very well.

Rani has performed well, she always does. She enacts every scene to perfection.

I loved Abhishek role in the movie and he has done full justice to his part.

Preity Zinta is good in her role, she has done what was expected from her.

Karan Johar as a director & producer has done a brave job on making movie on such a concept, but could not execute it to much effect. It wasa bit long, it could have been shorter and some more power gripping scenes could have done wonder.

Overall KANK short form of the title is not a big hit, and does not live's up to the expectation of the people in India. ALthough personally i like the movie's concept. You can have a look at this movie but just dont expect too much by sseing the names attached to this movie.
