First of all I should mention this is a film only review, I went to see this at the cinema last week and so there is no mention of the DVD or any eatras that may or may not be on there when it comes out.

Kick-Ass came out in 2010. This is a kind of spoof superhero film. Usually spoof films are pretty shocking, but this one breaks the mould! The film was directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Mclovin) and Nicholas Cage. The film has already been a massive hit at the box office and will no doubt be in line for plenty of awards in the near future.

The film tells the story of a young man named Dave. Dave wonders why no one has ever tried to live out their fantasies and become a real life Superhero. So one day he decides to give it a go. He buys himself a costume and he gets himself into shame. Dave is now known as Kick-Ass.

However being a Superhero is not as simple as Dave thinks. He soon gets himself into all kinds of trouble and gets involved with some pretty nasty people. However he discovers that he is not alone in his quest as is soon united with other Superhero's. Now can Dave fulfil his dreams and become the true Hero he knows he can be?

I loved this film. I head read many other reviews that said how good it was and I pretty much agree with them all. There is lots of comedy in the film and lots of action. The story moves at a frantic pace and there is always something going on to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The actors are all really good. I love the little girl, she plays a brilliant part that really made me laugh a few times. Nicholas Cage is excellent in his role and I was very impressed by newcomer Aaron Johnson. The film is shot in an interesting way and we often get little comic strips reminding us that this is a Superhero film.

I think this film really does punch above it's weight. When I first saw this advertised I thought it would be one to give a miss. But it really does take you by surprise and is a really good watch.

The film runs for 117 minutes which is quite long for a film like this. But as I said earlier it really does fly by. There is always something to enjoy and at no point did I feel the film was dragging or did I get bored.

The film is rated 15. Now this I feel is wrong. I think this should be an 18. The language in the film is shocking, there were so many F words and even one word that was worse, and it was said by a 12 year old girl! I don't mind a little swearing but for me this film was over the top. There is also some very graphic violence that may upset some people. I think it's a shame the film went as far as it did in these respects and really think its a disgrace that it is rated 15!

Overall though apart from the strong content, this is a great film. I really enjoyed it and came out of the cinema feeling like I wanted to be a Superhero myself. If your not offended easily this is a film you really must check out as soon as you can. Kick-Ass does exactly what it say on the tin!

Summary: A Great Film
