Well for as change I have the evening to myself as the boys are all in bed asleep and hubby is out so I took control of the DVD player and managed to watch this film which I bough ages ago in the sale. The film stars Will Ferrell who plays the role of Phil. He is the son of a sports fanatic and we are show a bit of footage of him growing up and being awful at sports which disappoints his father. Phil has spent his grownup life in the shadow of his Father and always having to compete with him. The day Phil got engaged so did if Father and the day his son was born so was his Fathers! Phil's son Sam plays football of his Grandfathers team but is ... Read the complete review

As I am a fan of both Will Ferrell and his comedy as well as a big fan of the sport of football as well as being involved in coaching kids the sport, this seemed like an ideal movie for me to watch. When I found it for a cheap price online I decided to purchase it and although it is definitely not the greatest of films it is funny and provides some laughs and is a good film to watch with family. The film is set in America and stars the character of Phil Weston (Ferrell) who is a bit of an average Joe and has been unathletic his entire life. Growing up he failed at every sport that he tried out for. He has a 10-year old son, Sam (Dylan McLaughlin) who is on the ... Read the complete review

Having subjected myself to a rather boring thriller and feeling let down by my film choice last night, I decided to put on this comedy I had rented from blockbusters. I am a amassive comedy fan, so this seemed like a safe bet to cheer me up! I shall start by mentioning this film stars the fantastically adaptable Will Ferrell (a veteran of the comedy scene) in the main acting role in this film. He drew me to the film as I think he quite often makes a potentially bad comedy very funny. As usual he did not disappoint, and this is one of my favourite performances from the versatile comedian, as he really makes this role his own. This hilarious American ... Read the complete review

Even though it stars Will Ferrell, you wouldn't be too wrong to miss this film, which had a very minor release in 2005 and quickly slunk its way to DVD soon after without much more than a quiet peep. Ferrell's worst film to date probably, even moreso than A Night at the Roxbury, which at least had one good joke powering it. Phil Weston (Ferrell) is a stand-up young guy who, through his entire childhood, suffered at the hand of his overbearing, immensely competitive father, Buck (Robert Duvall). Phil is now grown up, with a family, and his own store, while his father runs a successful chain and is still in the foreground taunting him over his lack of the same ... Read the complete review

Kicking and Screaming sees Will Ferrell give another one of his outstanding performances. Ferrell plays Phil Weston a married man who works as a vitamin salesman. His father Buck (Robert Duvall) does not accept his sons ways as he feels that crying is a weakness and that those who are uncoordinated are losers and when his father decides to get one up on his son by dropping Phil's son (Buck's granson) from his youth football team. Phil decides to beg Buck to give his son more time on the pitch but instead Buck trades him to the last placed team the Tigers. When the coach of the Tigers decides to leave mid-season Phil steps up and takes on the coaching role to find a ... Read the complete review
