It's such a simple idea that I can't really believe no one had done it before. It's effectively five people trapped in a car together, all of them desperate for different kinds of freedom (the sixth character, the unconscious child, is effectively a prop). A review of just the film. A region 1 DVD is available for about £10 from amazon. Mario Bava is best known as one of the great horror directors, having made some groundbreaking classics in Italy in the 60s and early 70s. But, like American Roger Corman, he turned his hand to other exploitation genres, including spaghetti westerns, superhero movies, and erotic comedies. One of the last films he made was a tough crime thriller called Rabid Dogs, in 1974. It wasn't quite finished, and wasn't released during Bava's lifetime.
