Kids is a mockumentary filmed in 1995 by Larry Smith. Its about a bunch of kids hanging around, taking drugs, getting laid and passing the HIV virus between each other. Kids tells the tale of Telly, an irritating and immature little muppet whose only love in life is taking the virginity of young girls, usually under 16. A self-styled "Virgin surgeon", we see him spin the usual lines young lads spin to get girls into the bed with them, with the exception that these young ladies average age 13. Oh, and Telly is HIV positive, although we assume he doesn’t know this. We also see Jenny, a girl who finds out she is HIV positive, and only having slept with ... Read the complete review

A film that boasts kids shagging, taking drugs, rape and random violence was never going to struggle to court publicity. Upon release in 1995, Kids was panned with a predictable moral outrage and garnered furthered attention that morphed into an eventual cult following. There is no solid storyline here, more a journey through the lives of a group of New York Teenagers. Focus is on Tally and his friend Casper and their quest for fulfilment in stereotypical mid-teen fashion: through girls, drugs and violence. Director Larry Clark pulls no punches here and the film starts as it mean to go on, with Tally deflowering a considerably young looking girl ... Read the complete review

The other day I watched the 1995 version of ?KIDS? directed by Larry Smith and was absolutely shocked and horrified. My friend was telling me about it, and said its work watching just to get a point of view. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A bit about the film: Basically it?s about a bunch of New York kids ranging in ages from 12 to about 17, 18. It opens with a 16-year old that is with a virgin teenage girl of about 13. I?m not going to tell you anything about the film because I completely agree with my friend in that you should watch it just to get an opinion about the film. The film is set in New York, and ... The film focuses on three people, Telly, 17 (Leo Fitzpatrick), his best friend Casper, 16 or 17 (Justin Pierce) and Jennie, 16 (Chloe Sevigny)who has slept with Telly. The film opens with Telly seducing and having sex with a 12 year old girl (Sarah Henderson). At first the audience is mislead because we believe that Telly actually cares for this girl. However we a re sadly mistaken, as he leaves he spits on her floor that goes outside to his waiting friend, Casper and tells him all about his conquest. We then learn that Telly only lives for one thing, deflowering young girls. He doesn't care about them or their age as long as he can fulfil his needs he's fine. ... Read the complete review

Every once in a while a film will come along and upset the apple cart named Morality. In the mid-nineties that film was called 'Kids' which offered a stark depiction of american youth talking graphically about sex, having sex, smoking weed and drinking. Naturally when you have something like that in your film then you're going to get some attention and provoke a lot of dicussion. This is certainly a film where you can have your opinions conflicted at every turn. The plot of the film spends 24 hours with a group of New York teenagers. Skateboarders Telly and Casper hang out, shoplift, take drugs and seduce girls. Meanwhile Jennie tries to track them ... Read the complete review
