Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a comedy/ horror B Movie that was released in 1988. It is rated 12 due to moderate horror and one use of strong language and is 82 minutes long.

Plot
In Crescent Close, it appears to be a normal night for Mike and Debbie and while they are looking at the sky at a local make out spot, they see what appears to be a comet. The couple go to investigate but on their travels, they come across a circus tent but Debbie thinks there is something strange about it.

The circus tent is in fact an alien spaceship, home to the aliens that look like clowns. While Mike and Debbie investigate, they quickly find that this circus isn't at all what it seems and the Klowns are storing people in candy floss cocoons.

The townspeople are intrigued by the new circus and think the Klowns are amusing and funny...until everyone starts to get killed. The Klowns are wreaking havoc all over town, shooting people with their popcorn shooting guns and enticing the townspeople with deathly balloon animals amongst some other weird weapons. Will anyone survive the Klowns' invasion?

My Opinion
Me and me sister used to rent this film so much from our local video shop when we were kids and I would have lost count as to how many times we watched it. It was one of those films that we would never get bored of and drove our mum mad. The people at the video shop probably laughed at us too for renting it too much. I was so amazed to find this on DVD for £5 on Amazon and had to have it straight away.

Killer Klowns only had a tiny budget of $2 million and you can see that the special effects aren't that great, but then again, not much was in the 80's anyway but that didn't stop this film from being amazingly amusing. The makers were incredibly creative with the small amount of money they had and either a lot of effort was put into the design of the Klowns, or it was something they made up in 5 minutes. Either way, the Klowns are fantastic. They have big rubbery faces, most of them are extremely ugly and fat, but they have these big sleazy smiles at the same time. The Klowns aren't scary in the way that IT was, but there is just something horrible about them. Actually, they aren't really all that scary anymore, but I remember being terrified of them as a kid.

Being a B movie, you can't expect the acting to be anything worth while apart from making you laugh. The script is absolutely awful and cheesy as hell and I know it seems that I'm slating this film, but I can't help but love it because of how bad it is.

Here are a couple of my favourite laughable lines:
Curtis Mooney: They took your wife away in a balloon? Well you don't need the police, pal, you need a psychiatrist!

Mike Tobacco: It was a space ship. And there was these things, these killer clowns, and they shot popcorn at us! We barely got away!

Mike Tobacco: Isn't this place great or what? It looks like it was decorated by Klowns R Us.

While anyone above 9 or 10 wont find this scary, Killer Klowns from Outer Space is an utterly entertaining film. It does feel extremely dated now and I would love to see a remake of this, seeing as remakes of horrors seems to be the 'in thing' at the minute.
