If you think of successful uplifting British film from recent years you might think 'The Full Monty', 'Billy Elliot' or 'Calendar Girls', but 'Kinky Boots'? Maybe it's just because of the title (doesn't sound very British does it?), but it didn't really hit the big time like these, but after watching it, then starting all over and watching it ... The film looks nice and the basic plot is OK. It's based on a true story, and I'm sure then vigorously brutalized to have maximum impact on the viewers at the cinema. Non TV's (transvestites) and people who don't know any TV's are going to leave the cinema thinking all TV's are like Lola and taking Lola's definition of TV (we're nothing like ... This film is set in a family-run Northampton shoe factory, inherited by son Charlie after his dad dies. Unfortunately the business is going down the pan, and to corner a niche market Charlie decides to make women's shoes and boots for men (i.e. transvestites, drag queens etc.). No-one does a good feel-good flick like the Brits. This film is all about feeling good about oneself. It is not an out and out comedy, you won't be roaring with laughter but there are some amusing and touching moments. The film is actually loosely based on a real Northampton shoe factory. In the film, Price's Shoemakers have been ... Read the complete review

I could not help noticing on watching ‘Kinky Boots’ that a lot of the new crop of British and Irish actors have played drag queens, or at the very least metrosexual men. I do not know if it is reflects on me, but they are amongst the actors that I look forward to seeing in films most! The likes of Cillian Murphy (Breakfast on Pluto), Ewan ... Read the complete review

British comedy movies are always worth taking a look at and Kinky Boots is no exception. As a girl I am obsessed with the ideas of beautiful shoes anyway so I just saw the front cover with a gorgeous pair of red boots and thought I will watch this. I had no idea what it was about and did not even read any reviews on it so I was totally in the ... Read the complete review
