Advantages: Funny in places

Disadvantages: Dumb plot

This was actualy a better film than I expecetd it to be with some good comic moments in it.

In the film Seth Rogan stars as he character Ben Stone, he has this awful perm job and is over weight which makes him look a bit like the fat guy in That 70's Show. Anyway Stone is a total waster living off the income from a faked insurance scam. On a drinking binge with his mates he manages to pull an attractive girl called Alison played by Katherine Heigl which can only suggest that alcohol does lower your standards considerably because in the real world someone that attractive would not end up with a loser like him, welcome to the world as seen by Hollywood. A one night stand follows however sure enough she ends up pregnant and Stone has to face up to his responsibilities despite having an aversion to commitment and no money either.


As I said this was certainly a better film than I expected and it works really well, the two leads do a great job and the pace of the film is maintained with a strong supporting cast.

If the move has a weakness it is in the initial absurd plot line that sees the two people get together however Stone does have the ability to make Alison laugh whch I guess counts for something and will probably appeal to blokes as at least it gives them some hope for the future.

As far as films go this was good it is just that I'm sure I will have forgotten about it in nine months time.

Summary: Good film
