Advantages: Child actors, special effects

I watched Knowing with an open mind last weekend, not expecting much but still waiting to be pleasantly surprised. Bear in mind Cage has not acted well or starred in a good film since Face/Off.

The story was similar to many others, the sort of end of the world, alien, God type plot. Cage is pretty unremarkable, playing the single dad turned to crazed fanatic physicist. It had a certain Nostradamus flavour to it, with the numbers and final scene re. Adam and Eve, tree of knowledge etc.

The good things for this film are the child actors for the boy and girl, they did superbly well I think, out shining all the adults. The ominous alien/God types reminded me of the blue men from Intel adverts or the baddies from the X-Files with stitched up mouths.

I wouldn't rush out to get this DVD, wait till it's in the bargain bin and grab it for a fiver or just rent it from Love Film or something. Worth a rainy day but not worth a tenner.
