So, with nothing else to do of an evening, I found myself sitting down to watch the DVD of Kung Fu Panda with a few friends. It was a film that I hadn't seen before, even though I liked the look of it when I saw trailers for it when it was out at the cinema, so I was quite excited to watch it. Also, the fact that it was made by Dreamworks also gave me high hopes for this film, as they brought us the fantastic Shrek trilogy as well as Chicken Run and other animated classics, although I would say that they still fall short of Pixar in terms of producing great animated films. Fortunately, Kung Fu Panda was a film which lived up to my expectations, and was ... Read the complete review

Cats, vipers, monkeys and... well, not so much the pandas! ;) Po is obsessed with kung-fu. In fact, if he wasn't a panda you might be forgiven for confusing this with my previous review, on The Forbidden Kingdom - I had a bit of a kung-fu weekend, y'see. And oddly, despite this being a cartoon and kung fu looking nowhere near as impressive in animated format (yes, I'm sure it's very difficult to draw, but it lacks the sheer 'wow' of seeing all those years of training in practice), and despite the big names only here in voice, Kung Fu Panda was somehow the more enjoyable of the two. Where was I? Ah yes. Po dreams of being a kung fu master, but in ... Read the complete review

Kung Fu Panda is an American animated comedy film which was first released in 2008. It was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and runs for 92 minutes. It features the voices of many famous actors and actresses and is set in ancient China. ~The Plot~ I won't give too much away about the plot as it spoils it for those reviewers who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing the movie. The film centres around Po - an overweight, unfit panda who works in the noodle business with his father but dreams of better things. He aspires to be a kung-fu expert but doesn't stand a chance in hell of ever becoming that. A chance encounter sees Po chosen as ... Read the complete review

This is just a review of the film as it was only a rental for a few friends and me last week. I've watched a few animations films in the last few weeks (Bolt, Monsters vs Aliens and The Tale of Despereaux) so I was keen to see how Kung Fu Panda would fair in comparison. Bolt and MvA had impressed a great deal so I felt Kung Fu Panda had to go the extra mile to be remembered for a long time. The Plot Master Oogway, a wise old tortoise, has a premonition that the ruthless and feared snow leopard, Tai Lung, will escape from Prison and will cause destruction to the Valley. Oogway's protégé Master Shifu decides to hold a tournament at the Jade Palace ... Read the complete review

The Story ************** Directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson, this is the story of Po the panda who works in his fathers noodle shop. Po also happens to be a real kung fu fan and sets off to watch the spectacle as the local kung fu monastery selects its next Dragon Warrior. Through a series of accidents Po becomes the chosen one and gets to study alongside his heroes, The Furious five, Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey, under the critical eye of their teacher Master Shifu. At first Master Shifu and the furious five do not take kindly to their new Dragon Warrior and master shifu promises the furious five that he will make sure that Po ... Read the complete review
