Advantages: Lovely story, all star cast and great animation

Disadvantages: The fight scene between Tai Lung and Po could have been extended

Po, an overweight Giant Panda, dreams of becoming one of the protectors of the Valley of Peace but instead is settling for a life selling noodles with his goose father. Master Oogway is the trainer of the Furious Five protectors - Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane. He has a premonition that a former student, Tai Lung, is going to return and try to steal the Dragon Scroll. He believes that he will pick the warrior who will defeat Tai Lung at a Tournament. Po desperately wants to take part in the Tournament but his father sends him there to sell noodles. By the time Po gets there, the gates are shut so he shoots himself into the arena using fireworks just as Oogway is choosing his Dragon warrior. As fate has it, Oogway selects Po, much to the horror of the Furious Five and Master Shifu. Po is then subjected to humiliation as he tries to learn Kung Fu and loses hope that he will ever be the Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung escapes from prison and the Furious Five go to fight him, whilst they are away Shifu realises Po is rather agile and will work hard for food and so starts the real training for Po. Tai Lung defeats the Furious Five and they return to the Valley of Peace. Po opens the Dragon Scroll and realises the secret to being a true warrior is the belief that you can do it. Tai Lung fights Master Shifu and is then confronted by Po who ultimately defeats him; thus saving the Valley of Peace and proving Po is the true Dragon Warrior.
This animation is clever, original and very entertaining. Jack Black fits the role of Po so well - the bumbling lovable Giant Panda desperate for his dreams to come true. The story has great morals and I'm sure adults will enjoy watching this as well as children. The Furious Five are excellent characters, each having their own individual Kung Fu skills and Tai Lung is the perfect villain for a childrens animation.

DVD Release Date: 17th November 2008

Summary: This just shows that you should never judge a Giant Panda by it's cover!
