Advantages: Excellent animation, story, voiceover
Disadvantages: None
Kung Fu Panda is a Dreamworks animated film.
The story follows a big fat Panda named Po, voiced by Jack Black who does an excellent job of sounding like a panda. He works in his families noodle shop with his father who has dreams for him to become a noodle seller. Po dreams of nothing but martial arts and lives and breathes kung fu.
They hold a ceremony to determine who shall become the legendary Dragonwarrior, and Po goes along to watch as one of the Furious Five a team of deadly martial artists trained by Master Shifu is chosen. Through a series of attempts to get in Po manages to land right in the middle of the ceremony and chosen to become the legendary Dragonwarrior himself!
The story is really touching and there are loads of laughs along the way as Po journeys from a useless fat Panda to the enlightened Dragon warrior. It is really interesting to see the transformation of the character, I expected him to become the generic super warrior but he remains as himself and the fight scenes between him and the villain is really great to watch.
The animation of the film is superb, the film has really well animated characters and plenty of fighting moves on show throughout which will keep your mouth open in awe! The characters are all voiced by celebrities, from Jackie Chan as the Monkey, Angelina Jolie as the Tigeress to Dustin Hoffman as master Shifu, their mentor.
The movie is obviously aimed at the younger audience but adults will also appreciate the films humour and excellent CG along with the celebrity voice cast.
The DVD is available in many stores and can be yours for around £5, a bargain for this excellent film.
Summary: A great watch.
