Advantages: All star cast. Fun story. Lots of laughs. Suitable for kids & great message.
Disadvantages: No real surprises. Doesn't require much thought.
Kung Fu Panda is another great animation from Dreamworks studios. These are the same people who brought us Shrek & are really begining to rival Disney in quality of Children's films.
Po is a Panda who dreams of being a Martial Arts hero. Unfortunatly he has to work in the noodle parlour with his father (who is strangely a bird!). One day, Master Oogway a Turtle who has mastered the art of Kung Fu decides that the time has come to choose the Dragon Warrior from the Resident students of Kung Fu, the Furious Five. Po, overwhelmed with excitement sets off to the palace along with the rest of the villagers to see who is chosen. He doesn't quite get to the entrance in time & gets stuck outside. Determined to make it inside the walls to see the climax of the cerremony, Po gets on a chair & straps a load of fireworks to it to rocket himself over the wall. This works and he lands inside the palace to find master Oogway pointing at him.
This film is really great fun. It has an all star cast of voice talent who all do a good job. There are lots of laughs throughout the film, plus great action fight scenes, which are completely blood free & more than suitable for the kiddies. The plot is fairly fluffy & formulaic, but there aren't many kids films that are truly unique.
I enjoy this film a lot whenever I watch it & I always seem to discover something that I missed the first time. I had lots of laughs & although the story doesn't have many surprises, I did enjoy it's message that you should follow your dream & anything can be possible no matter who you are or where you come from. Everyone has a talent.
Summary: A great film for kids that the adults will enjoy too. Everybody will be Kung Fu Fighting!
