 ... like that of a machine gun are reduced to visual and stylised subtitles. When Mr TV sets his sight on the entire world, and wants to take away not just the speech, but the written words of the world as well, it's up to a few to try and stop him. The film while not completely original (drawing on the work of Fritz Lang, George Franju, and David Lynch) is still very entertaining and nothing less than brilliant. La Antena is a surreal and hauntingly beautiful modern day black and white film that's almost silent, but still manages to leave a huge impact on the viewer. A city has lost it's voice. It happened many years ago, somebody took away the speech of the inhabitants, and after a while nobody seemed bothered by the silence. The population communicates through the use of lip movement, hand signals, and somehow even their own subtitles. The city itself is under control of Mr TV, who has used some technology to steal their speech, and owns a monopoly of products.
