In a clever twist of a well known remake, director Walter Hill gives A Fistful Of Dollars (itself a remake of a Japanese film) a gangster theme by pitting Bruce Willis as John Smith, the equivalent man with no name, against two different warring factions in an attempt to play them off against each other and become the last man standing. The direction is fierce as is the gunplay, but for some reason the film never really took off with the critics or the public. John Smith (Bruce Willis), a gun for hire, wanders into the town of Jericho, and finds himself caught up in the middle of two gangs as the Irish and the Italians fight to control the town in the 1930s ...
