Swiss Miss
~~~~~~
This is the main film on the DVD.
A composer is trying to 'compose', of course, but his beautiful wife is distracting him. So he keeps avoiding her. Stan and Ollie come to sell mouse traps and Ollie ends up falling in love with her but with the usual hilarious and farcical results.
This has the MEMORABLE scene where Stan tries to outwit a St Bernard and get a drink of its brandy from around its neck.
In another scene the pair are trying to carry a piano over a rickety rope bridge while being harassed by a gorilla! A Gorilla in the Alps?!?
It ends with them getting the gorilla.
The chimp.
~~~~~~~
Stan and Ollie are at the circus, they are a Panto horse. Due to their squabbling and general ineptitude and destruction of property they eventually literally bring down the big top.
The circus is broke and so in lieu of their wages Ollie is given Ethel the Gorilla whilst Stan gets the flea circus.
They end up in a boarding house where the landlord will not allow pets. Ethel has to climb up the drain pipe to get into their room, the flea circus escapes, Ollie is outwitted by the chimp and it all ends badly for Ollie.
There are some great visual and jokes in this one as you might expect.
Flying Elephants.
~~~~~~~~~~
This is a silent movie, set in prehistoric times with Stan and Ollie trying to woo and win the heart a cave lady, one by showing he's a better hunter, whilst the other by bashing a lot of things.
Its not one of their best.
Opinions.
~~~~~~
The coloured shorts are wonderful to watch; if not 'proper' colour it comes close.
If you're a fan, you'll love this farcical feast of daftness and I would say it is excellent value for money.
Lets be honest, you can't go wrong with Stan and Ollie.

Praskipark - 12/07/08 My brother loves these two. He is in his 40's but when he watches these he never stops giggling like he did when he was 5. |
