Disadvantages: historical accuracy, lack of special effects, length of film

peter o'toole's best known and probably mosy colourful and controversial figure,te lawrence, was played in a very passionate and yet at the same time dogmatic fashion in
mr o'toole's unique way.

set against the background of the the arab revolt against the ottomen turks during the first world war, the story tries to recreate, t e lawrence's involvemnt a young british oxford graduate, in the struggle for freedom for the arabs tribes against their turkish oppressers.

whilst the magestic scenery, impressive cast and film score do much to transform the living room into the space of arabia, the historical licensce giving by david
lean's direction as to the influence and the part played by lawrence in the arab revolt has to be viewed with much suspiscion.

Watch it and enjoy but don't go running to the history books.
