Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (DVD) ... Sally Field ... / DVD released 04 November, 2003 at MGM / Features of the DVD: AC-3, Anamorphic, Closed-captioned, Colour, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD-Video, NTSC, Subtitled, Widescreen / The winning comic finesse of Reese Witherspoon drives Legally Blonde 2. It's astonishing that the sequel could possibly be daffier than the first movie, but Legally Blonde 2 leaves reality behind like an unflattering outfit. Unemployed lawyer Elle Woods (Witherspoon) sets off to the US capitol to ban cosmetics testing on animals, after discovering that her beloved Chihuahua's own mother is being used as a test subject. Washington DC becomes a testing ground for Elle's mettle, as she grapples with callous committees, backstabbing representatives and devious aides to get her bill considered by Congress, with some help from her sorority sisters and her hairdresser friend Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge). Witherspoon bursts with charisma and dazzles with sheer performing skill; she's the comic heir to screwball comedienne Carole Lombard--which is high praise. The film also features Bob Newhart and Sally Field. --Bret Fetzer

... girly pink, this time around she has her sights set on the politics of government and Washington. The problem is that the plot is paper thing and the comedy that her character generated in the first film is now also paper thin as they try to stretch it out into a second movie. The script is dire and gives Witherspoon precious little to work with and there are no decent characters around her either with whome she can build up any sort of momentum, Sally Field appears asa sort of mentor to the young Elle but it prett...more

Premium Review Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (DVD): Elle is back..............shame! (400 words)

The arrival of Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde was hailed as a bit of a revelation. A girlie film that poked fun at itself from the start, it also had an edge of a courtroom drama about it. Fast forward to the dreaded curse of the sequel, and we get this highly disappointing foray into the depths of Washington politics. Combined with a silly plot to try and reunite Elle's dog Bruiser with his mother, the political element never really gets going, and is more drab and boring than entertaining and quirky. Whereas the first film had an element of romance to make it more of a romcom, this doesn't include that part at all, and seeks to ...  Read the complete review

Legally blonde was always a film that i secretly loved. However, it was one of those films you knew that it could only be done once without overdoing every joke. But they did it anyway. Elle woods, played by Reese Witherspoon, is a 'plastic' girl who loves pink, her dog and...being a lawyer. As she plans her wedding, expecting everyone to be there, she realises that her freakishly tiny dogs birth mother won't be coming. So, of course, what would any normal person do in this situation? Hire an undercover investigator to find her. However, she discovers that she is being held in an animal testing unit and, being the animal loving girl she is, sets off to ...  Read the complete review

Film only review This is the follow up to the smash hit first movie and Reese Witherspoon reprises her role as Elle Woods. Last time we saw her she was just graduating from Harvard Law and this film sees her working in a law firm and engaged to be married to Emmett (Luke Wilson) from the first film. She's busy planning her perfect wedding, doing seat plans and deciding what shade of pink to wear. She decides she wants her dog Bruiser's mother to be at the wedding (don't ask!) but discovers she is being held in an animal testing centre and so Elle takes it up herself to change the law so that cosmetics aren't tested on animals anymore. But will she be able to ...  Read the complete review

Well I have been looking forward to seeing this film ever since I found out there would be a sequel. However I did have mixed feelings about the idea, as some sequels are failures. The first addition of Legally Blonde was brilliant and I absolutely loved it but was my feelings of this one to be the same? I was staying overnight at a friends and we had decided we would go out the next day but we had no idea where. We had seen pretty much everything that was out to see at the pictures, we didn?t fancy ice-skating and the boys didn?t weren?t too keen on shopping. It was then that I remembered. August 1st was the release date of Legally Blonde 2. The girls were ...  Read the complete review
