Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde is the sequel to Legally Blonde and was released in 2003. It is rated PG, just like the first film and is 95 minutes long. Legally Blonde 2 made $125 million, which wasn't far behind the first film, making it a huge financial success.
Plot
Elle Woods is preparing for her wedding to Emmett while working at a highly respectable law firm. Elle suddenly remembers that Bruiser's mother hasn't been invited to the wedding so she hires a private investigator to track her down but the results are shocking. Bruiser's mum is being held in an animal testing lab, run by the C'est Magnifique Corporation, who her law firm represent. Elle thinks that the firm will help her free Bruiser's mum but they don't take her seriously, forcing her to quit her job.
Elle decides to leave Boston, and take her cause to Washington D.C to try and work on Bruiser's Bill but things don't go very smoothly. She is working with Congresswoman Victoria Wood but her other staff members don't think Elle has what it takes. Elle must stand up for what she believes in and make the other politicians believe it too.

My Opinion
Legally Blonde 2 has a nice message to the story, much like the original film, but doesn't come close to it's greatness. The story of animal cruelty is very heart warming but the rest of the plot lacks the same excellence that Legally Blonde had. We had already seen Elle overcome her problems and there are only so many times that an audience will want to see this again.
Reese Witherspoon was fantastic again as Elle Woods and I think she managed to show her emotions a lot more, and better in this film. You can tell that she really cares about the cause and will do anything to make her plans succeed. One of the things that I didn't like about her character though was the thing that I loved so much about Elle in the first film. We all know now that Elle is actually quite clever and we didn't get to see many moments of her blondeness this time.
Jennifer Coolidge is back as Elle's friend Paulette and equally as funny, if not more so. At least someone was there to provide us with some dim witted comedy. Luke Wilson features even less in Legally Blonde 2 which was a real shame as I really liked him and I thought he would have had a much bigger role in this film. He was great in the small amount of scenes he got though.
My main problem with this film is that it doesn't exactly fit into the comedy genre anymore. There wasn't nearly enough laugh out loud moments for me and the story was lacking romance which would have somewhat saved the film a little bit. Legally Blonde 2 is mildly entertaining but was quite a big let down.
Summary: No way near as good as the first film
