Advantages: Reese Witherspoon , Funny, Good Storyline
Disadvantages: First 10 mins are a little too girlie!
Legally Blonde is the latest high school romantic comedy directed by newcomer Robert Lucketic. Before I go into the story of this film I want to stress that I was not interested in the movie before seeing it. One of the downsides of marriage is that sometimes you have to go and see films that you other half wants to see. Well Legally Blonde was one of those films. The film revolves around Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) who is every girls envy. She is Miss June in her campus and is the role model of every young girl. She has a handsome boyfriend called Warner (Matthew Davis) who has dreams of getting engaged too. Her dream turns to a nightmare when Warner dumps her one night. Intent on winning him back she applies to harford law school. Want makes this more unbelievable is that Elle has no previous law experience and is not really interested in the subject. Elle sets about winning Warner back but realises that she has competition in the shape of Selma Blair's character. The two women characters fight it out for the feelings of Warner. As you can see from the storyline it is a little unbelievable at times but infact it works quite well. While I was watching the movie it didnt seem stupid that Elle could actually do well in her studies. Legally Blonde is a very amusing movie. Whilst watching the first 10 minutes I was wondering "What am I actually doing watching this rubbish!" but it does get much better and goes from a girlie film to a funny comedy. Reese Witherspoon is excellent in the lead role. She plays her spoilt character very well and if any role was ever made for her then this was it. The rest of the cast are also very good and there are no real weak leads. As mentioned above I wasn't really looking forward to Legally Blonde but after seeing it I was glad I did. It is very funny at times, the acting is good and the storyline actually kept me interested for the length of the movie. Gentlemen don't be pu
t off by the trailer as Legally Blonde is much more than a 2000 version of Clueless.
