Advantages: Nice acting and genuine humoristic elements
Disadvantages: Plot is somewhat weak and predictable
It was with apprehension that I picked this movie but because firstly, I have never been one to go for sequels (much less a third sequel!). And secondly, I was horrified at the thought of a Legally Blonde movie without Reese Witherspoon. In the end, I must admit, I was quite glad I rented the movie.
While Legally Blondes has no such element that can turn it into a spectacular movie, or even a first-class outstanding one, this is the perfect movie for some girly entertainment. The plot is light and very predictable despite the director's effort at suspense, but I believe that a good movie is one which can draw the audience out of the real world and into the movie's laughs and humoristic element. This film did just that.
The plot is quite simple- It depicts the two (twin) nieces of Elle Woods as they move from England to California and try to get adapted and accepted at a very exclusive school. I was stunned when I learned that Milly and Becky Rosso (who star as Annie and Izzy) are debutante actresses. There is absolutely nothing that even hints at the fact that these two girls have never acted before. They are naturals in front of the camera and their line deliveries, facial expression and body language are extremely good.
My personal opinion about the story line is that is good, but not excellent. It really could have been better. While the fun and glitzy atmosphere of the film does provide entertainment, I felt quite bad while watching the DVD Extras: Some nice scenes got deleted from the movie. I think that these scenes could have made this movie a lot better!
Overall, on a scale of 10, I would rate this 7. Entertainment, laughs and good acting are present, but the plot is slightly too weak and predictable at times.
Thanks for reading!

- 18/07/09 Wow, I'd not heard of this (and at first thought dooyoo had misspelt the title). Despite your criticisms, I would want to watch it, if only to agree with your conclusions. |
