Colonel William Ludlow has had enough of the Army and the Government causing unnecessary carnage so he is now retired and has moved out to the remote foothill of the Montana Rockies where he built a ranch for his wife and three boys. He spend his time working on the ranch and teaching his boys the way of the land. He has a Indian helper and he is quite happy with his life. The wife cannot take the remoteness of this life and so moves back to the city leaving William to raise, Tristan, Samuel and Alfred alone. The boys grow and soon they are young men and Samuel returns home after visiting their mother with his fiancé in tow, Susannah. Both other brothers find ... Read the complete review

Raking through our pretty extensive and varied film selection, my wife decided that it was a long time since we had watched ‘Legends Of The Fall’, and that last night was the night to put that right. Being truthful, I was dreading the thought, as I don’t think I managed to sit through it all first time round as it was just too much of a romantic girlie film for me, but eager to please, I vowed to stay put last night. The film was first released 10 years ago, when Brad Pitt was only starting off on his climb up the Hollywood fame ladder. WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins star in this epic tale of a family in 1900s America. Three brothers journey through love and war together, in this Oscar winning drama that charts the highs and lows of the American way of life. IS IT ANY GOOD: This is one of my favourite films, for a few key reasons: 1) The acting - all the acting is solid, but Pitt and Hopkins give a particularly strong showing, as a complex father and son who struggle to connect with eachother. The pairing set them up well for 'Meet Joe Black', where they again enacted a complex relationship. 2) The plot - from the peace of home, to the fields ... Read the complete review

Legends of the Fall is an excellent dramatic film with some impressive performances and a great storyline to it. A retired army Colonel is living on his ranch in the Montana Rockies with his three sons after his wife left him for the city when news of the First World War reaches them and his sons decide to travel to Canada to enlist and support the British in the war effort. The boys Tristan, Samuel and Alfred leave for France with their father and Samuel fiance Susannah left behind on the ranch. While in France Samuel is killed in action and both brothers return to the ranch however there is conflict in the air as both have feelings for their late brothers ... Read the complete review

Anthony Hopkins plays the father to 3 sons played by Brad Pitt, Aidan Quinn and Henry Thomas. A tragic love story in which the beautiful Susannah (Julia Ormond) stirs passion and rivalry in the brothers with fatal consequences. You'll need plenty of tissues for this film. Set in the rugged prairie lands of 19th century America it is a story of love, tragedy, rivalry, betrayal and family loyalty. It's a long film lasting 134 minutes but there's never a dull moment. ...
