Crowned Review Lesbian Vampire Killers (DVD): If a wet lettuce and a plank of wood made a film this would ... (421 words)

Rating:

James Corden and Matthew Horne were on a high they'd had the sleeper comedy series of last year in Gavin and Stacey, their partnership had garnered them great press, they were hosting the Brit Awards and they were simply everywhere and then this happened, its pretty much the worst film i've seen in ages, since Rancid Aluminium in fact, its a turkey of amazingly low standards and makes films like America Pie seem Chaucerian in their intellect. The plot is simple (incredibly so): dumped by his manipulative on-off girlfriend Judy, hopeless romantic Jimmy (Horne) drags his mate Fletch (Corden) on a holiday to get away from it all to Norfolk. It's not long before ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Who knew that Lesbians and Vampires could be so dull? (789 words)

Rating:

I don't usually like to start a film review with the words 'oh dear', but with 'Lesbian Vampire Killers' starring James Cordon and Matthew Horne, I feel I have to. "Oh dear" James Cordon is a chap who seems to be on absolutely everything at the moment - chat shows, comedy shows, radio interviews and now films. To be honest, I found him amusing in Gavin and Stacey as the loveable 'Smithy', and he comes across as being pleasant enough in real life - so even though I assumed Lesbian Vampire Killers would be pretty average, I went to see it anyway hoping for a few laughs. Directed by Phil Claydon, the story revolves around the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lesbian Vampire Killers (DVD): This aint no Shaun of the Dead (780 words)
by - written on 24/12/09 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:

Lovefilm in their infinite wisdom ignored all the Christmas titles on my list this time and instead of sending me a nice festive film such as "Miracle on 34th St" or "Santa Claus the Movie" they dredged the bottom of the barrel and sent me the not-so-festive "Lesbian Vampire Killers" starring James Corden and Matt Horne of 'Gavin and Stacey' fame. The plot if you can call it that follows Corden and Horne as they become trapped in a village some killers who happen to be vampires and lesbian ones at that. Jimmy McClaren (Horne) is a descendant of a Baron who successfully defeated "Carmilla - the Queen of the Vampires" and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Better stick to sit coms lads! (342 words)

Rating:

Despite having relatively enjoyed Gavin and Stacey (although I always found Mathew Horne a bit wet), I decided to give this a miss on the basis that it had received very poor ratings. For the most part though the film was erased from my memory and I'd somehow evaded the negative reviews of the film on dooyoo. When my brother in-law lent me some DVD's, this one was part of the pile. Might as well give it a go, I thought - nothing to lose, after all the name was incredibly trashy and I didn't expect too much. The plot is wafer thin but what's there is not too bad, a lesbian vampire has cursed a spell on the town's female population to become lesbian ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lesbian Vampire Killers (DVD): For Horne and Corden fans only (914 words)
by - written on 02/07/09 (Very useful, 61 readings)
Rating:

I still can't believe I watched this film, I shudder every time I hear the name of the film. I had no hopes for this film. Before watching it I expected a terrible attempt at a comedy with stupid amounts of nudity and girls (Well, vampires to be precise) kissing. I couldn't believe James Corden and Mathew Horne would even consider doing a film like this. For anyone who's watched Gavin and Stacey will know that these two are set for a big career in comedy, they are simply fantastic in it. Their own show, Horne and Corden, isn't so great but it's a solid first outing for the guys. I honestly thought this film could ruin their reputations they had established so I was ...  Read the complete review
