Advantages: The photography and Attenboroughs narration

Disadvantages: if you don't like penguins its not for you

Life in the Freezer is a TV series presented by Sir David Attenborough, it features the life in the antarctic. Literally this is a TV series looking at how life adapts to extreme cold, the show is presented by the greatest of all television presenters David Attenborough.

First aired on BBC1 in 1993 and was presented as a six episodes.

1. The Bountiful seas, looking at the oceans lapping antartica - mostly featuring penguins and albatrosses.

2. The Ice Retreats - This is the episode with the 3 tonne bull seals.

3. The Race to breed, penguins again showing there amazing life cycle, they survive -70c temperatures to raise their chicks.

4. The Door closes, winter is coming and the ice is coming back.

5. The big freeze, this show truly looks at the animals who live in an antarctica winter.

6. Footsteps in the Snow, mans struggle to tame the coldest place on earth.

The six shows are presented by David Attenborough, both on screen and as the voice over for the series, this series has some of the classic Attenborough moments - him escaping the bull seals was recently voted number 5 in the nations favourite Attenborough moments.

The show as a necessity feature penguins, albatrosses, seals, sea petrels and more penguins. The limitation of life in the antartica also limits the amount of animals the presenters could show but this is turned from a weakness to a strength by featuring them in all their struggles on the white continent.

This along with Attenboroughs other shows has brilliant production values, the scenery is amazing and photography superb. The dvd doesn't come with a huge range of extras and those who don't have it this series is being shown along with the rest of Attenboroughs show is being shown on Eden (sky channel 532).

Summary: Classic Attenborough
