Introduction
I love Disney movies, and this is one of the few I hadn't ever gotten around to see. As I had some time this afternoon while tidying I thought this should be a laugh to see, it had always looked a fun movie. Well in this case you can judge a DVD by its cover.
Story (May contain spoilers and maybe nuts)
In a typical space federation style, there are all these alien species with a galactic council, which is where the movie opens. (Typically Earth is not part of it, after all space travel we can't do that at a high enough speed). There is an Idiot alien ("I prefer Evil Genius") who has created a intelligent, terrible, monstrous, indestructible, destroying creature ("Yes he will go into the biggest population centre and steal their left shoe!"). This creature is the size of a medium dog and fluffy. The council decide he must be exiled. The captain of the intergalactic police, confidently transports the creature to its exile planet. During this transfer the creature does what it does best destroys and escapes.
The council track the creature to Earth, where they decide to go in covertly to try and capture the creature, after all there is a recovering alien species on the planet, who was about to be extinct, and they do not want to disturb that recovering alien species food source (Humans).
The creature of destruction gets captured by the humans, mistaken for an ugly dog, and subsequently adopted by Lilo who names it Stitch. Stitch about to escape notices the aliens sent to capture him, so accepts being adopted as they aliens can't disturb the humans.
During this time he finds out he actually had nothing to destroy and on this Hawaiian island they certainly don't seem to be wearing left shoes, which means he has no purpose, and in a typical self revelation storyline he discovers himself.
Along the way he has many mishaps, learns new things about what it means to be part of a family, and how to talk. Unfortunately these mishaps all happen when Lilo and her older sister is around. This is unfortunate as Lilo as being looked at for re-homing by social services due to her sister clearly not being able to take care of her. The devastating effects Stitch has on the two sisters, looks like it will cause Lilo to be taken away. What will happen..... Will Stitch save the day..... Will he get caught... Will Lilo be taken away by Ving Rhames (Personally I wouldn't argue with him)...
Watch the movie to find out......
Acting
Obviously being an animation there is no real acting, only the voices. Et again these animation studies do such a fantastic job of picking the voices. I don't know whether the characters are drawn first then voices to match are found, or the voices fond first then the characters drawn around them. The voices match so well with what we know of the actor and what is drawn, especially the animated mannerisms. The humour, the subtle tones, the heartfelt love of the characters really is brought out by these actors, they do such a fantastic job. I must say Ving Rhames is such a perfect voice for the social services officer Cobra Bubbles, it really was a genius Casting Person. To pick him.
Overall Opinion
This movie is fantastic, it would be enjoyed by all. Be prepared to laugh, be prepared to have your attention grabbed all the way through, be prepared to cry in sadness and happiness. This movie has an amazing story, it has a fantastic cast of voice actors. I was watching this, seeing all the disastrous results of this cute fluffy alien, Stitch and all I could think is, I want one, (Although I did think I already have one every time I looked down to my sleeping cat, who normally is a trouble maker).
This movie is one of those that everyone should see, and if you have a child in the household buy it, claim its for them then spend all your time watching it.
Sorry what are you still doing here, go rate me, then go out and watch it!!!!
