Advantages: You don't have to watch it., There won't be a sequel

Disadvantages: Not funny., Terrible acting

A horror movie has elements of horror in it, a thriller sometimes thrills, suspense can sometimes kill you and a comedy makes you laugh. Unfortunately in the case of Little Nicky this didn’t happen.

Is this one of the worst movies of all time? For me it was an absolute dog’s dinner from start to finish. It just wasn’t funny but God did it try. It tried so hard but it was a disaster.

Adam Sandler plays Nicky, one of the Devil’s sons. He has a speech impediment and a lopsided grin, as a result of being hit with a shovel across the face by one of his other brothers (Rhys Ifans plays one of them). Someone should have hit the Director with the same shovel. Harvey Keitel plays the Devil (He certainly took his thirty pieces of silver for this effort, he must have been desperate).

The story concerns Nicky’s efforts down on Earth in trying to find his two brothers who have absconded from Hell due to no career prospects in hell. The Devil instead of retiring decides to stay on the throne for another ten thousand years. The two wayward brothers in escaping have managed to freeze up the portal to Hell. No more souls can arrive until they are brought back. The Devil begins to rot away, first a finger then an ear and so on.

Nicky makes frequent visits back to Hell for advice on how to capture the two brothers and it goes on and on, back and forth. Normally if I a rent a movie out, I don’t mind straying over the time and paying the extra. Little Nicky went back in record time; I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough.

Are there any funny moments? Well there’s a dog that speaks (Nicky’s aide on earth), cocks his leg and likes getting it together with another dog (bitch) whilst saying, “Call me Mr Beefy.” He was mildly amusing for a time.

It was directed by Steve Brill (or is that over the hill or had my fill)
The supporting cast include Patricia Arquette (terrible
acting), Rodney Dangerfield (Lucifer) Henry Winkler and Ossie Osborne. Do yourself a favour and don’t be tempted by this Devil, it belongs in the bargain bucket. I didn’t access the special features on the DVD and in a way I’m sorry, as I’m sure even the extras would have been funnier than the movie.

I've heard nothing but bad things about this film, somehow I don't think I'll be watching it :)

Normally I hate Sandler's stupid routine but I may rent this just to see Keitel as the devil !
